Khal Mah Tribal Rug JB80024424 Afghan

Size Guide

Khal rugs are warm and welcoming. The colors are dark, usually deep reds with dark blue or black used for detail. The color and dyes themselves are what give the rug its name. Khal rugs are handmade by the Turkomans in the north of Afghanistan, and in some cases they can also be hand knotted in Pakistan by the those who have crossed over the borders. The primary colours are dark red in different nuances. Occurring motifs are guls (elephant foot pattern) with curvilinear flowers in dark blue, ochre and beige. [ref. Dr Reza Cheshmehdoost]

Placing the correct size rug in your space is as important as choosing the right color or pattern. A rug that it is too small will shift the balance of the room unfavorably. A rug that is too big, especially in open floor plans, may put the area designations off. There are a few rules of thumb, but a picture says it better.
