Throwback Thursday: Furniture placement then and now

Then & Now. Historical perspective - There really is nothing new about furniture arrangement and design principles is there? Same principles, same layouts, just different shapes and fabrics. Interesting, isn't it?!

It's about formulas rather than rules! Take a look at these vignettes - not much has changed when it comes to where you put the sofa and chairs. Same can be said for accessories. What it all really boils down to is how your room is configured and how you are going to use the space.

 or Bohemian eclectic flair. Now the tribal influence has moved from the sofa to the floor with the tribal rug.

And, as we always say, you can mix traditional rugs with modern furniture ... people have been doing it forever. Wide open space with ample seating.
